What is PAT Testing?
The inspection & testing of electrical equipment by a competent person to determine whether electrical equipment is fit for continued service.
Is it mandatory?
No…but it is the most common way of showing compliance with Electricity at Work Regs (1989).
It is only for portable items?
No. Testing covers handheld, portable, stationary, fixed and IT/Electronics.
It is only needed yearly?
Maybe. Frequency is set by the Risk Holder.
